Spot copper averaged $1.5064 on Comex during February, up 2.79ยข, or 1.9% from January, but was off $2.0832, or 58% from $3.5896 last February. The year to date average now stands at $1.4925, off $1.9032, or 56% from $3.3957 during the first two months of 2008.
Copper held in Comex and LME warehouses rose 54,553 MT, or 10.3% during February to 582,583 MT, and is up 427,048 MT, or 275% from 155,535 MT last February. Inventories are now at their highest level since February 2004.
