Industry News…Gord Becker

Gord Becker of Durham, Ontario, who entered the Canadian plumbing wholesale industry in 1960 and remained there until he retired, was nominated for the 2010 West Grey Citizen of the Year award in recognition of his service to the community. He joined wholesaler J.B. Allen & Co. Ltd. (Kitchener, Ontario) as a truck driver in 1960;  advanced to counter sales and on to branch manager in Hanover, Ontario, in 1964. In 1973, he joined MPH (plumbing supply) as an assistant manager and was appointed general manager in 1982. He purchased MPH in 1987. He is past Ontario Regional President of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH), National Chairman, CIPH and Honorary Life Member of the CIPH.
