Metals Service Center Institute reports metals shipments continued to decline on a year-over-year basis in October, while the ongoing year-over-year decline in inventory levels also has continued.

MSCI reports U.S. service center steel shipments decreased by 8.6% from October 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 18.4% from October 2015. MSCI adds U.S. service center shipments of aluminum products in October decreased by 8.5% from the same month in 2015. Inventories of aluminum products decreased 3.8% from October a year ago.

For Canadian service center activity, service center shipments of steel products in October 2016 decreased by 6.1% from October 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 11.2% from October a year ago, MSCI reports.

Canadian service center aluminum shipments in October decreased 12.7% from the same month in 2015, while MSCI also reports inventories of aluminum products decreased 7.6% from October 2015.
