Massachusetts-based Metropolitan Pipe & Supply announced it is moving its corporate office, counter and warehouse operation to Somerville, Mass., in the first quarter of 2018. The new operation will be less than a mile away from its current location in Cambridge.
With the move, Metropolitan Pipe will be outfitting the new warehouse with the latest technology in order to improve the customer experience. After spending 50 years in its current location, Metropolitan said it is looking forward to making the company run as smooth and efficiently as possible.
The new location at 30 Inner Belt Road in Somerville, is 81,000 sq. ft., and is easily accessible off Interstate 93, Route 1 and Route 28.
The new location will have a redesigned office and warehouse and will give Metropolitan an opportunity to streamline the supply-chain process. At the new location, Metropolitan will continue to offer the immense breadth of product that currently is stocked and will live by the motto “that no job is too big or too small,” it stated.
“Customers remain the most important part of our business and with this move we’re given a unique opportunity to revamp the entire customer experience,” President Kevin Brown said. “We’re excited about the new technologies we’re going to implement at 30 Inner Belt and look forward to welcoming customers to our counter with better customer service than ever before.”
Construction at 30 Inner Belt Road is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2017 and is slated to be complete in the first quarter of 2017. These dates will be updated throughout the process, the company stated.
