ASA member wholesaler-distributors reported a median sales increase of 7.5% for the month ending June 30, 2017, compared to the same month in 2016.
Calendar year-to-date, all respondents reported median sales growth of 7.0% and the median increase for the trailing 12 months was 5.6%. Inventory rose 6.4% compared to the prior year and the median three-months average days sales outstanding increased from 43.5 to 45.1 days.
Only 44.3% of the respondents reported an increase in gross-margin percentages for the month of June 2017, vs. 2016, and company YTD profit before taxes increased for 59.5% of the total sample. The percentage of respondents having more full-time-equivalent employees compared to a year ago grew from 59% in May to 64.6% in June.
Industrial pipe-valve-fitting distributors reported a median sales increase of 7.4% for the month compared to June 2016. Calendar year-to-date, PVF respondents reported a median sales increase of 8.0%, and the median increase for the trailing 12 months was 6.5%. Inventories grew 10.5% compared to prior year and the median three-months average DSOs dropped slightly from 46 days in May to 45.5 days in June. PVF respondents reporting an increase in company YTD profit before taxes edged up slightly from 64.3% in May to 64.7% in June.
