Eleven members of “Team Cooney,” comprised of employees, friends and family of PVF distributor Cooney Brothers, recently participated in the American Cancer Society’s Bike-A-Thon.
For the second year in a row, the team raised more than $10,000 for the fight against cancer. And for the 15th year, a team of 11 cyclists representing Cooney Brothers participated in the event.
Benefitting the American Cancer Society, the 66-mile ride started in Philadelphia at the foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge and finished on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Some Cooney members rode the extended 100-mile route.
Donations were made by more than 80 Cooney employees, customers, business partners, friends and family members. “It was another great day in the books for the ACS Bike-A-Thon,” Cooney Brothers President Gerry Cooney said. “The weather held out for us and everyone completed the distance they set out to do. Existing friendships were strengthened and new friends were made along the way. Most importantly, we struck a blow against cancer, something that has affected every rider indirectly or directly.”
