Fourth-generation distributor The Portland Group recently purchased Middlesex Supply, a three-branch family-owned company based in Connecticut. The sale was slated to be finalized by the end of October.
Middlesex Supply operates New Shepard Supply and Clinton Supply in Middletown, Vernon and Clinton, Connecticut, respectively. A fourth-generation business founded by the Miller family in 1929, Middlesex will now fall under The Portland Group umbrella.
The Portland Group has branches in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, as well as four retail showroom locations: Splash (Newton, Massachusetts) and Spritzo (Saco, Maine, Providence, Rhode Island and Worcester, Massachusetts).
The Portland Group’s Howard Rose and Richard Fox said: “Middlesex Supply, like The Portland Group, is built in family values, which was very important to us. We’re very excited for our new venture and to continue what the Miller family started all those years ago.”
The Portland Group was founded in 1930 by the Rose and Fox families.
