East Windsor, Connecticut-based The Collins Companies, an industrial distributor of PVF and engineered specialties serving the Northeast, recently was recognized for its “commitment to quality, service, teamwork and overall performance,” by longtime customer-partner Riley Power.

Collins noted it has worked tirelessly over the last several months with Riley to meet an aggressive delivery schedule on several large automated valve packages going to Riley’s customers nationwide. As often is the case with large projects, things can change and problems do occur. One of those projects, Collins explained, was particularly challenging.

“There is a reason grass grows in valleys and not on the mountaintops. That’s because we truly distinguish ourselves by how well we deal with life’s problems, not its accolades,” The Collins Companies President Brian Tuohey said. “The entire Collins team is honored by this prestigious award. Babcock Power has multiple business units and well over a thousand suppliers worldwide, and to be one of the only 30 of those supplier partners that received this award is truly humbling. It is a great reinforcement to all of us that going the extra mile, especially under extremely difficult circumstances, not only is the right thing to do, but it defines who we are as a company in today’s workplace.”

On the plaque awarded Collins is a quote by Will Durant that sums up their commitment to their customers. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
