Ferguson purchased and installed a solar array for our Perris, California Distribution Center. This rooftop system will be the first instance of owned renewable energy on our distribution network and is expected to offset 1,305 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. This reduction in greenhouse gases is equivalent to removing approximately 282 passenger vehicles from the road for one year.
"Since we opened our doors in 1953, Ferguson has built strong connections through an unwavering commitment to our customers, associates, suppliers and communities. Now, nearly 70 years later, it's still our people — and their commitment to our customers, reducing our environmental footprint and building a resilient business — that set us apart," said Kevin Murphy, chief executive officer, Ferguson.
To celebrate National Clean Energy Week, September 20-25, Ferguson shared images of the Perris solar array. SunPower Corporation, which installed the panels in 2019-2020, photographed the finished project atop the distribution center for the first time earlier this year. In 2020 alone, installed SunPower products offset an estimated 15 million tons of carbon dioxide according to SunPower’s 2020 ESG report.
