How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
DD: To be honest, my entire life. My family was in the wholesale hardware/plumbing business, so I spent several summers and Christmas breaks working in the warehouse. In Summer of 2005, I graduated college and started as an outside salesman for Woolf Harris, a plumbing rep out of Louisiana, and been involved in the industry ever since.
What drew you into the industry?
DD: Initially it was the familiarity of the industry. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting myself into, but it has really been a blessing.
What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
DD: 100% the relationships we can enjoy. Every year we are able to go to AIM/R and The Southern Wholesalers Association. It feels like a Family reunion every time. Getting to see so many manufacturers, customers, and even competitors that are now close friends is the most rewarding aspect of the job.
What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
DD: What an incredible opportunity is available if you are willing to put in the work. There are so many avenues to succeed whether you love sales, IT, operations, or working with your hands. You can find your niche and have an incredibly rewarding career.
What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
DD: When we finished the transfer of ownership within the agency last year, it was a real culmination of a lot of hard work. We are very proud of the team we have assembled at WHB and are excited about our future.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
DD: I love golf and The University of Tennessee. I have 2 awesome kids that keep me very busy outside the office.
