Johnson Controls has completed its acquisition of York International, an independent supplier of HVAC/R equipment and services. The board of directors elected former York Chief Executive Officer and President C. David Myers as vice president and corporate officer of Johnson Controls. The company also named Myers as president of its building efficiency business.

“The complementary capabilities of the two businesses create an offering that will reshape our industry,” Myers said. “Whether it's a single facility or global organization, customers will now have access to unmatched, end-to-end integrated products and services.”

Some systems-related priorities include the union of Metasys® building management system and York's ISN ConneXsys controls to ensure uninterrupted operations. Organizations will soon benefit from factory-mounted controls from Johnson Controls on select light commercial York equipment to offer packaged rooftops with both N2 and BACNet protocols. In addition, a focus will be on establishing Johnson Controls connectivity for all commercial products that will support gateway integration or protocols supported by native systems.

The acquisition creates the largest global provider with more than 700 sales and service offices in the building efficiency business serving over 125 countries, the company said. The new business expects to have market leadership in North America and Europe, and increased strength in Asia (especially China), Central Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. York will retain its global product brand under, “YORK, A Johnson Controls Company.”
