Canadian master distributor M.A. Stewart & Sons has established an office and warehouse in Charlotte, N.C. The facility, operating as M.A. Stewart & Sons (USA), will function as a master distributor of commercial and industrial valves for all industries.
Andre Bergeron is the national sales and marketing director for the U.S. venture, and Robert Stewart has been named U.S. operations manager. Both formerly worked for the parent company.
The decision to move into the U.S. market was the result of an analysis of growth opportunities in North America for M.A. Stewart, Bergeron said.
"We picked the Southeast because most of our products deal with two markets: commercial and industrial," he said. "Charlotte is a central hub for the Southeast. We can service 70 major centers in two or three days."
The North Carolina location is the first of several that the company plans to open over the next decade. The most likely area to be targeted next is Texas.
M.A. Stewart & Sons is a 47-year-old company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Besides its corporate headquarters, the firm operates five facilities across southern Canada.
