  • McQuay International appointed Tom Lennon as Mid-Atlantic regional manager and Tom Watson as director/product quality for chillers. Lennon spent 25 years with York International, while Watson has been with McQuay since 1972.

  • HRAI added four people to its team: Jason Borg, sales and marketing coordinator; Louise Hope, manager/administration and CHRAW; Martin Luymes, director/ HRAC services and relations; and Joanne Spurrell, director/education and market development.

  • Nortek appointed Edward J. Cooney as its treasurer, succeeding Richard J. Harris. Harris currently serves as company senior vice president/administration.

  • Thermo Manufacturing purchased Hexdall Hangar Co. of Aurora, Ill. Hexdall is known for its patented line of ductwork hangars.

  • York International Corp. announced it will close its compressor assembly operation in Sparta, N.C. The facility is part of the Bristol Compressors operation and employs about 450 people.

  • AAF International announced a price increase for all residential air filter products sold in North America, effective immediately. The increase is a result of higher energy costs, increased transportation expenses and a substantial growth in raw material costs.

  • Mitsubishi Electric HVAC lowered the price of its PlasmaPure air purifiers. Model MA-EF503HS-U has been reduced to $299 from $389, and model MA-EF303HS-U has been reduced to $249 from $359.

  • The Trane Co. set a 1% to 4% price increase on a majority of its commercial and unitary products, effective immediately.
