Hercules Chemical Co. announced that Jay Fidler, chairman, retired April 30 after a 57-year career with the company. He started working for Hercules at its office/factory in lower Manhattan in June 1946 after returning from service in the U.S. Army. He became national sales manager in 1956 and was named president in 1962. In 1998, following the sale of the company to its employees under an ESOP, David M. Siegal took over as president, Len Ruvolo was named vice president/CFO, and Fidler remained active with the company as its chairman.
