Steve Berger Sr. of Modern Plumbing Supply (New Milford, Conn.) retired as president effective Jan. 1. He is phasing out his participation in day-to-day operations but will continue to help with the business on a part-time basis. His wife, Diana Berger, who has acted as the primary showroom manager, also will reduce her responsibilities to part-time. Berger has transferred ownership of the company to his two sons: David Berger will head the wholesaler's fourth showroom, located in Middletown, Conn., and its Berlin, Conn., facility, while Steve Berger Jr. will take charge of the New Milford, Conn., and Fairfield, Conn., operations. Berger Sr. bought Modern Plumbing Supply, which was primarily a heating supply house with one facility and five employees, in 1990. In the next few years he decided to enter the bath and kitchen showroom business and today has four retail showrooms.
