Embassy Group Ltd., based in Elgin, Ill., and WIT & Co., based in Decatur, Ill., have had a meeting in which there has been some preliminary discussion of a possible merger or some other combination of the two buying groups.

“There have been preliminary, high level talks about possibilities involving the two companies, but there is no time frame and no commitments have been made,” said Justin Dunscomb, executive vice president of WIT & Co., which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. “The talks are exploratory in nature,” he added.

“We have had a conversation but I am unable to comment further at this time,” said Walter Gumm, president of Embassy Group Ltd.

Both Embassy and WIT are member-owned corporations consisting of independent plumbing, HVAC and PVF wholesalers.
