A controlling interest in Crane Plumbing LLC, a manufacturer and distributor of plumbing fixtures and specialty plumbing products in the United States and Canada, has been purchased by one of the affiliates of Sun Capital Partners, a Boca Raton, Fla.-based private investment firm.

Crane markets its products under the Crane Plumbing, Fiat, Showerite, Universal-Rundle and Sanymetal brands. The Evanston, Ill.-based company has manufacturing operations in 20 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Reed Beidler, who will continue as president of Crane and as a major shareholder, said in a statement, “We are pleased to join the Sun Capital organization and are excited about the future prospects for our business with the addition of Sun Capital's significant resources and support.”.

Sun Capital Partners focuses on leveraged buyouts and investments in middle market companies. Since its inception in 1995, it has invested in more than 75 companies.
