Sharon Tube Co. recently announced a multi-million dollar expansion to its Wheatland, PA, cold draw facility. This capital improvement will consist of cold drawing equipment and 22,000 square feet of production space. The purpose of the expansion is to increase the cold drawn size range to 6.25-inch outside OD by .39-inch wall tubing. Sharon Tube produces ASTM-A-513 Type 5 (DOM) mechanical tubing at the Wheatland plant. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately and the expansion is slated for completion in January 2006.
“This latest expansion further demonstrates Sharon Tube's commitment to broadening our product offering in the mechanical tubing market,” stated Bill Perrine, Sharon Tube Co. president and CEO. “The expanded size range enables us to be of further importance to our customer base, offering greater flexibility and support.” Sharon Tube's mechanical tubing products are produced for a variety of customers within the steel service center, automotive, industrial equipment and fluid power OEM markets.
During the past seven years, Sharon Tube has committed more than $60 million to upgrade and enhance its facilities.
