Johnstone Supply (Portland, Ore.) opened a 100,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Breiningsville, Pa., March 7, that will serve 69 stores in the Northeast. It offers next-day delivery, a customized line of products for the region and also has same-day pick-up. The state-of-the-art center features “narrow aisle” stocking and shipping and Radio Frequency (RF) scanners. The company has two other distribution centers in Memphis and Portland.

The company said the distribution center is the first step in its new strategic distribution model designed to meet customer demand for next-day delivery. Future plans are for a national network of regional distribution centers.
