Alan J. Campbell, 56, president/CEO of the Florida Society of Association Executives, died of a heart attack Feb. 3 in Tallahassee, FL. Before that, he was executive director of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association. He also was an active member of both the Association Forum in Chicago and NAM's Council of Manufacturing Associations.

Patrick (Pat) DeRouen, 70, founder of Plastics Inc. of Rayne, LA, a major producer for PVC plastics fabricated pipe fittings, died of cancer Jan. 12. He founded Elco Electric of Rayne in 1958, became involved with underground plastic piping irrigation systems in the early 1970s, and was instrumental in developing many items used in plastic piping systems today. He founded Plastics Inc. of Rayne in 1972 along with Plastics Inc. of Eagle Pass, TX, and Piedras Negras, Mexico. After the death of his daughter, Peggy DeRouen, in 2001, he sold the company. He re-entered the industry in 2003 as president/owner of DeRouen Plastics Inc., in Rayne, LA. He was described as a colorful, delightful person and an entrepreneur and visionary by an old friend and associate. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dolores DeRouen, four children, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
