The International Stainless Steel Forum has announced that world stainless crude steel production in the first quarter of 2006 stood at a record 6.6 million metric tons. That was 0.3% higher than the first quarter of 2005 and 12.2% more than the fourth quarter of 2005. This indicates that demand is recovering from the poor results in the second half of 2005.
