The Safe-T-Valve, a new earthquake-activated gas shut-off valve (EAGSV) is said to offer a new technology that separates the motion sensor from the valve itself, significantly reducing the possibility of a false trip. Earthquakes of 5.2 or higher magnitude will shut the gas off automatically, and a reset function allows a homeowner to turn the gas back on in an instant (after following safety precautions) by turning a lever back into place. This product is available to plumbers and contractors.
