The Bobapalooza concert at the George Morlan Plumbing showroom in Portland, OR.

George Morlan Plumbing, Portland, OR, hosted a concert in its showroom June 30 for lucky listeners of Portland radio station KPAM (860 AM) and morning announcer Bob Miller. The event was called “Bobapalooza” and featured Bob Miller’s Almost All Star Band. About 250 KPAM radio listeners earned tickets to attend the event by signing on to the KPAM Web page.

The staff at George Morlan Plumbing transformed the warehouse that houses the Design Center’s showroom into a cabaret. Comedian Art Krug was the warm-up act. The Almost All Star Band, made up of local musicians, played funky soul and rhythm and blues while Morlan salespeople served food and beverages.

The showroom where this took place carries the latest designs in toilets, bathroom and kitchen sinks and faucets, spas and bathtubs. Those who attended were appreciative of both George Morlan Plumbing and the radio station.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us,” Rick Kramien, president of George Morlan Plumbing, said in a statement. “Many of the folks here didn’t even know we had design centers in our showrooms. Now they’ve seen it firsthand and when they think of George Morlan Plumbing in the future, it’s always going to be with a smile from this positive experience.”

The company has hosted concerts and special events in the past but the audience has generally been contractors, remodelers and other regular customers. Kramien said this latest event should broaden its customer base.

George Morlan Plumbing is a family-owned business that began in Portland 80 years ago. It operates eight plumbing stores and showrooms in Oregon.
