The officers of both the American Supply Association and the ASA Education Foundation appointed Michael M. Adelizzi to the position of ASA’s executive vice president, effective Sept. 4. The search for a new chief of staff began nearly eight months ago when Inge Calderon, who had served as ASA executive vice president since 1995, decided to step down in favor of taking on a new role with the growing Education Foundation.
A field of more than 75 applicants was narrowed down to a few finalists, who then underwent a series of interviews with ASA’s search committee.
“Mike Adelizzi is a career association professional, who we believe will bring a combination of strong leadership experience and excellent people skills to the job,” Joel Becker, current ASA president, said in a statement.
Adelizzi has spent the past 16 years as executive director/CEO of the Mason Contractors Association of America, where he focused on building the association’s size, scope and influence.
He has also worked with the Illinois Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, and served as District Representative for the office of U.S. Representative Philip Crane. In addition, he is very active in his local community, currently serving as the Schaumburg (Illinois) Township Republican Chairman.
“The more I learned about the ASA through the interview process, the more I became excited about the strength of the association and the commitment of the entire organization to provide excellence,” Adelizzi said in a statement.
“I am looking forward to meeting and working closely with ASA members throughout the industry to expand the association’s services and influence beyond the successes that we already have enjoyed. A strong ASA will benefit the entire industry and I am proud to be a small part of our future success,” he said.
