The Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Institute announced that an agreement to accelerate the phaseout date of manufacturing equipment using hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) by 10 years, from 2030 to 2020, was made at the 19th meeting of the parties to the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer in Montreal, Canada, Sept. 17-21.
