Combined U.S. factory shipments of central air-conditioners and air-source heat pumps for September totaled 527,516, up 4.7 percent from September 2006, according to the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI). Year-to-date combined U.S. factory shipments totaled 5.3 million, down 10.8 percent from the same period last year.
Heat pump shipments for September totaled 156,617, down 3.4 percent compared with September 2006 shipments. Year-to-date heat pump shipments totaled 1.54 million, down 11.6 percent from the same period last year.
