Wolseley Canada, Burlington, Ontario, Canada, celebrated the grand opening of its first one-stop shop facility in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, in October. It is the first location to combine all five Wolseley business units - residential plumbing, commercial mechanical, HVAC/R, waterworks and industrial - under one roof.
The 28,000-sq.-ft. branch at 9 Corey King Drive in Mount Pearl’s Kenmount Business Park carries plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, engineered pipe, waterworks, fire protection, pipes, valves, fittings and industrial supplies. Customers have access to 16,000 in-store items as well as Wolseley’s inventory of more than 175,000 products.
More than 250 vendors and customers attended the grand opening and 35-plus vendors displayed their products. A drawing was held with a grand prize of a weekend for two in Montreal, including hotel accommodations and tickets to a Canadiens’ hockey game.
Also during the grand opening Wolseley helped support the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating’s Habitat for Humanity fundraising campaign. A special CIPH/Habitat for Humanity chair created by John Touesnard, Wolseley’s regional manager for Atlantic Canada, has travelled to various Wolseley locations in the Atlantic Region, including the Mount Pearl Grand Opening, and across Canada for the CIPHEX Roadshows. For a minimum $2 donation to Habitat for Humanity, donors could sit in the chair and have their names added to the growing list of contributors.
Mount Pearl has a strong industrial center that includes a thriving wholesale sector, according to Dave Rowe, Mount Pearl brand manager. “For our customer, this means one stop and one purchase order, creating huge time and cost savings,” he said.
