ASA partners with PHCC and ACCA in Washington, D.C. 

ASA urges distributors and manufacturers who do business in the PHCP/PVF industry to participate in the Joint Legislative Fly-In, scheduled for April 29 & 30, 2009 in Washington, D.C. 

The Legislative Fly-In provides a unique opportunity to develop and foster relationships with members of Congress and their staffs. Participants will take part in personal meetings with their elected officials, where they can discuss issues and urge these officials to make decisions in the best interests of their businesses and the industry as a whole. 

“Ultimately, the goal for the Legislative Fly-In is to lay the foundation for ongoing and productive communication between ASA members and their Representatives and Senators about the needs of their businesses, as well as how legislation and regulations on key issues will impact the PHCP/PVF industry,” shares Don Robertson, chairman of ASA’s Government Affairs Committee. “PHCP and PVF distributors and manufacturers from across the country are needed to help legislators and regulators fully appreciate how their decisions will impact the business and economic climate, and the future of our industry.”

ASA will provide participants with complete briefings on all the issues that will be discussed with the elected. Each person will receive an issue packet prepared in advance and will be briefed on what to expect in the meetings. Issues scheduled to be addressed include LIFO repeal, card check legislation, accelerated depreciation, and lead in plumbing products. 

The agenda includes an issues briefing on Capitol Hill, a welcome dinner with invited speaker Bill Kristol, editor ofThe Weekly Standardand one of the nation’s leading political analysts and commentators, a breakfast with members of Congress and scheduled appointments on Capitol  Hill.
