Free Previewfor a Limited Time! Through the month of April, the ASA Education Foundation will allow free access to the 3D Residential Schematic tool. Thereafter, subscription-based access will be implemented. This new tool is the first in a series ofSchematic Solutionsthat will eventually include a variety of applications, including commercial and industrial systems, designed to teach how the products that are manufactured and sold in the channel are used in their application.

Later this year, new online training programs featuring this Schematic will be introduced throughASA University, a new learning management system being developed by the ASA Education Foundation. This program was made possible through support from the Karl E. Neupert Endowment Fund. For more information, contact Inge Calderon at 312.464.0090, ext. 202 or emailingec@asa.net. Whole House

Viewers can navigate to specific floors of the home to isolate the kitchen, laundry, any of the 2-1/2 baths, as well as the basement, where they can view a direct-vent water heater, tankless water heater, water softener, ejector pump and pit, sump pump and pit, and other utilities. More information is available on each component by simply clicking and drilling down deeper.

DWV System

A cutaway of the DWV system shows the complexity of the installation including its various pipe and fittings. Included will be a PDF describing the cutting & joining methods of the various materials: cast iron bell & spigot, cast iron no-hub, PVC DWV, ABS DWV and copper DWV. Viewers can click and see a municipal sewer main, complete with all the pipe, valves and fittings.  Also depicted is a detailed septic system, with specifics on its pipe, valves and fittings.

Master Bath (rough-in)

From the finish view, one click of the mouse brings in the rough-in view of each of the plumbed rooms. Each picture will clearly illustrate, to scale, the supply and DWV components needed for the fixtures that are installed in the room.

Water Closet (bowl)

By depicting a 2-1/2 bath home, the Schematic will allow depictions of two-piece, one-piece pressure-assisted and dual-flush water closets. Clicking on the various 3D images generates a clear illustration and detailed definition. Here, the bowl of a two-piece water closet is illustrated very clearly, with an example of definitions included.
