The Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) recently reported that shipments of a/c and heat pumps are still down, as well as furnaces and water heaters for the year-to-date.
Warm Air Furnaces
U.S. factory shipments of gas-fired, warm-air furnaces totaled 691,587 for the year-to-date, an 15.8 percent drop compared with the same period last year, while oil furnace shipments totaled 2,086, a 27.1 percent drop compared with the same time period.See charts of shipments by month and by cooling capacity.
Storage Water Heaters
For the year-to-date, about 1,603,970 residential gas water heaters have been shipped, a 7.4 percent drop from last year. As for residential electric storage water heaters, year-to-date shipments totaled about 1,597,548, a 10.4 percent drop compared to the same period last year.Commercial electric water heaters had 24,250 shipments for the year-to-date, which is 16.6 percent behind total shipments of this product during the same period last year (29,083). Commercial gas water heater shipments totaled 34,011 for the year-to-date, down 12.8 percent compared with the same period a year ago (38,999).
Central Air Conditioners and Air-Source Heat Pumps
Combined shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totaled 1,996,309 year-to-date, down 18.1 percent compared with the same period last year.Also, heat pump shipments totaled 687,744, a 12.6 percent drop compared with the same period last year.
