Ferguson Enterprises Inc.has purchased substantially all of the assets ofSG Supply Co. (Calumet Park, IL) in a transaction closed effective September 26. The company will now operate as SG Supply Co., a Ferguson enterprise.
SG Supply was founded in 1959 and is a supplier of plumbing products, water heaters, hydronic heating, as well as pipe, valves and fittings for plumbing and mechanical contractors. SG Supply will continue to operate from their current location in Calumet Park, IL, and be led by Ferguson’s Chicago area general manager,Steve Speers. Also,Craig Weiss, SG Supply’s former president will remain to transition the business.
“From the beginning, we were impressed with SG Supply’s personnel and operations,” said Ferguson CEOFrank Roach. “Their location and product offering allows us to expand our presence in the northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana markets and better serve commercial customers in those areas.”
“SG Supply was founded by my father and is a family business,” said Weiss. “Therefore, finding a company with similar values is important to me. Although Ferguson is a large company, they maintain a family atmosphere. We think this is a great partnership that will benefit both our associates and customers.”
This is the third acquisition for Ferguson in 2011. They announced the purchase of Summit Pipe and Supply in January and Louisiana Chemical Pipe, Valve & Fitting, Inc. in August.
