Tyco Flow Control announced its
purchase of a 118,000-sq.-ft. facility in Mansfield, MA, as part of a more than
$20 million investment plan to relocate its existing operations.
Curtiss-Wright Corp. announced that
it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Nu-Torque, a designer and
manufacturer of electric and hydraulic valve actuation and control devices
primarily for the U.S. Navy ships.
United States Steel Corp. announced that it plans to relocate the administrative offices of
its U. S. Steel Tubular Products subsidiary from Dallas to the company's
corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh.
The U.S. International Trade Commission voted
unanimously to issue a countervailing duty order and an antidumping duty order
on imports of welded stainless pressure pipe from China.
The
American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that total steel imports were
down 5% in 2008 and finished steel imports fell 3%, based on preliminary
figures.
U. S. Steel Tubular Products announced that it will exit the
drawn-over-mandrel (DOM) tubular products business and close the DOM lines at
its Texas Operations Division in Lone Star, TX.
