The Home Depot® announced that Tom Taylor, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, has decided to leave the company at the end of the year. Taylor will continue to lead the company's merchandising and marketing initiatives throughout the year and will assist in the selection and transition of his replacement.
John R. Lindahl Sr., 84, co-founder and former chairman and CEO of State Industries, Ashland City, TN, died July 5. He was born in 1922 in Malvern, AR. His family later relocated to Nashville, where his father, H.W. Lindahl Sr., started an appliance distribution business.

California Assembly Bill 1953, which calls for the reduction of lead content in plumbing pipe, fittings and fixtures to no more than 0.25%, passed the state House by one vote on May 31. The current law allows up to 8% lead for pipe and fittings and 4% for plumbing fittings and fixtures. If passed, the bill would take effect in 2010.
