Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) members raised $134,550 in 2021 for Homes for Our Troops, the association’s philanthropic partner. In addition to the cash donations raised in 2021, HARDI members committed to donating the HVACR equipment to 19 specially adapted homes for injured military veterans across the country.
Marcone, a distributor of home appliance, HVAC and plumbing repair parts and equipment across North America and current portfolio company of Genstar Capital announced it has acquired Munch’s Supply, a distributor of HVAC equipment, parts and supplies from Ridgemont Equity Partners. Ridgemont and the Munch’s management team will retain a meaningful minority stake in the combined entity.
In 1992, I self-published a thick book I called, "The Lost Art of Steam Heating." I did this because I could not get a publisher interested in something that few, if any, contractors had installed since the 1930s. I thought it would do well in New York City, where there are still plenty of steam-heated buildings, but to my delight, we sold tens of thousands of copies everywhere, and even in Hawaii. Go figure.
Water heater manufacturer Rinnai America Corp. has been working for the last three years with a state department of corrections to upgrade the water heating systems in five prison facilities. This initiative, Jason Tuttle, Rinnai America’s commercial business manager for the North Central region, notes, had a goal to increase the facility’s overall efficiencies.

In a recent survey, Emerson asked HVAC contractors and wholesalers about their knowledge of and preparation for increasing federal minimum SEER/IEER efficiency requirements mandated for AC systems and heat pumps by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in January 2023. The survey found that a majority (about 87%) of HVAC professionals are familiar with the regulation changes in 2023 regarding the minimum SEER/IEER central air conditioning and rooftop unit efficiency standards. However, nearly half of respondents (44%) said they have yet to make plans to take action in response to these upcoming regulations.
Owners, presidents, CEOs and more leaders from 23 Unified Group member companies nationwide flew to Puerto Rico to take part in the informative sessions and enjoy the opportunity to reconnect with friends and meet new members in a beautiful island setting.
After cancelling our 2020 in-person conference due to the pandemic, members of the association were able to come back together for an in-person meeting. The event welcomed 401 wholesaler attendees from 153 member companies for a grand total of 1,525 attendees from 578 member companies present at the event. The booth program sold out with 241 vendors participating.
