Respondents to the newest ASA Monthly Sales Report reported a median year-over-year sales decline of -3.4% for September 2023 vs the same timeframe in 2022.
By primary business emphasis, industrial PVF firms reported a decline of –11.3%, while PHCP and blended branches both reported declines of -1.7%.
On a month-to-month basis (comparing September 2023 to August 2023), all respondents reported a double-digit sales decrease of -11%. Year-to-date sales through September 2023 remained in positive territory at 2.7% vs. the same timeframe in 2022. Additionally, on a trailing 12-month basis, respondents reported sales growth of 5.1% - -with half the respondents reporting TTM sales growth between 1% to 12%. "We were impacted by the holiday shortened month compared to August and one fewer business day during this September compared to last year,” one ASA distributor member explained. “Otherwise, business remained steady and our sales per business day improved slightly for the month compared to the same month of the prior year."ASA’s Monthly Sales Report is a free member benefit and can be accessed through the MyASA portal at www.asa.net/myasa.
