The American Supply Association website (www.asa.net) recently has added industry information and news for codes and standards. On the Codes and Standards page, you now are able to see the Codes and Standards Committee members, obtain any committee discussion material and see the latest news pertaining to codes and standards.
The news portion of the Codes and Standards page is being updated periodically as important news affecting the plumbing, PVF, and HVAC/hydronics industry is released. Each market segment is separated for ease of use.
Recent news for plumbing includes the ignition of risk assessments for chemicals in drinking water and DOE publishing a final rule pertaining to commercial water heating equipment. Recent news for PVF includes information about the EPA Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and commonly used solvents in the PVF industry found to cause cancer.
The Codes and Standards news page also contains information pertaining to the Codes and Standards Committee meeting held on Nov. 7. On that page, ASA members can obtain the meeting agenda, minutes and material. One of the major issues discussed was the submission of public comments to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC). The committee approved the submission of 13 public comments to the UPC and 12 public comments to the UMC.
ASA is committed to keeping its members informed with information that can impact their businesses. Please contact Hugo Aguilar, P.E., at engineer@asa.net for any questions pertaining to codes and standards.
